Practical, effective therapy for adults in Helsinki. Grounded in the Human Givens approach.

  • Practical, Needs-Based Counseling

While I complete this stage of my training, I am seeking English-speaking clients in Helsinki. I am not charging for sessions until I complete my training.

I currently work only with adults in person, and only with clients with mild-to-moderate difficulties. These could involve any life situations but may include, for example, anxiety, depression or low mood, some traumas, and phobias.

  • ABOUT THE HUMAN GIVENS APPROACH

    Brief & Practical

Human Givens therapy is designed to help you as quickly as possible - often in 4 to 6 sessions. We focus initially on what’s happening right now, what you need to feel better, and what practical steps will get you there. Sessions are active and collaborative — you’ll leave with techniques & insights you can use immediately, not just things to think about.

    Needs-based

The Human Givens approach starts from a simple but powerful idea: we all have innate emotional needs — for security, autonomy, connection, meaning, and more. When those needs aren’t being well met, distress follows. Anxiety, depression, anger, addiction are signals that something essential is missing or out of balance. Therapy helps identify which needs are unmet and build practical skills to meet them in ways that work for you.

    Grounded in Evidence

Human Givens therapy draws on neuroscience, many schools of psychology, and decades of clinical research into what actually works. It’s not a theoretical model; it’s built from studying how the brain operates and how change happens. Research shows that Human Givens therapy is at least as effective as (and often faster than) long-term approaches for most common difficulties.

  • About Me

Only now in transition to a formal qualification, I've been involved in human well-being for 30 years. My background includes extensive meditation, volunteer listening, twelve step, counseling qualifications, and wide-ranging experience of diverse therapeutic approaches to complete human health. Professionally, I've also been engaged in the study of the brain and the hidden aspects of human motivation and behavior, which serves well my transition to the Human Givens approach to therapy.
